Talk – Preparing for Your Annual Review

Corporate Talk

Preparing for Your Annual Review

Year end performance reviews and professional development planning are critical pieces of the career development puzzle for working professionals. Women face a number of unique barriers to having successful performance and development conversations, from differences in how their performance is rated and discussed, to the cultural expectation that women should keep the peace and not advocate for themselves too aggressively.

This talk gives employees a framework for approaching their annual review so that they are prepared to communicate effectively about their performance and goals for the upcoming year.

This talk covers all of the steps you need to do before you even get in front of your boss for the review.
We’ll cover:

  • Reviewing past goals and making a plan to meet any outstanding ones
  • Doing a self-review to determine the gaps in your current skill-set
  • Taking stock of your career goals and deciding what development you’ll need
  • Goal setting for what you’ll ask for in your review (which is a two-sided street)

The goal of this talk is to set you up for success and give you the framework to figure out what you want
to get out of your review.
